Abstract
El 1894, l'arquitecte Josep Amargós Samaranch va redactar l'avantprojecte
d'urbanització rural de Montjuïc (rectificat l'any 1908). Cal dir, però, que la realització
d'aquest treball va arrencar quatre anys abans amb el seu projecte d'urbanització
de la «Fransa». Amargós va pretendre solucionar els problemes d'habitabilitat
de Montjuïc i dels seus voltants i convertir, alhora, el muntijol (aleshores un
lloc feréstec i poc accessible) en un gran parc d'esbargiment. Per això, l'Ajuntament
va encarregar-li la represa del projecte del Parc de Montjuïc, designat d'utilitat pública
per llei el 16 de juliol de 1914.In 1894, the architect Josep Amargós Samaranch drew up a draft project for the
rural urbanisation of Montjuïc (rectified in 1908). It should be said, however, that
the undertaking of this project began four years earlier with his urbanisation project
of the Fransa. Amargós aimed to solve the habitability problems of Montjuïc
and its environs, as well as converting the small mountain (at the time a wild and
inaccessible spot) into a large amusement park. Consequently the City Council
commissioned Amargós with the resumption of the Montjuïc park project that was
declared for public use by law on the 16th of July 1914
