Abstract
L'article ofereix un recorregut panoràmic sobre la concepció de la llengua del
polític i periodista Valentí Almirall, i que exposa al llarg de la seva obra. Aportació
sobre els principals textos de la temàtica que és prioritària en el pensament d'Almirall
atès que considera l'ús social de la llengua, i la seva normativització, fonamental
en els aspectes de caràcter social, atesa la situació de penúria que es viu, amb una
marginació absoluta en el terreny oficial mentre al carrer és la llengua d'ús ple. Al
llarg de la seva vida, Almirall es preocupà per aquesta qüestió de manera insistent
tant en una vessant analítica de descripció de la realitat com reclamant mesures
polítiques, l'oficialitat o, àdhuc, amb iniciatives específiques com per exemple la
promoció de l'Acadèmia de la Llengua Catalana. A l'article hom hi pot veure també
una antologia selecta dels textos d'Almirall sobre aquesta qüestió seguint l'ordre
cronològic en què foren editats.The article provides a global view of the conception of language that the politician
and journalist Valentí Almirall developed and which he explained throughout
his work. It comments on the main texts on the subject that were key to Almiralls philosophy. He considered the social use of the language, and its regularisation,
fundamental in terms of social character especially in light of the languages situation
of neglect, with its complete marginalisation in the official sphere despite being
in full use in the private sphere. Almirall remained dedicated to this issue
throughout his life, not only in an analytical form, describing reality, but also demanding
political measures, official recognition and specific initiatives such as
the promotion of an academy for the Catalan language. The article also provides a
select anthology of texts by Almirall on this question following the chronological
order in which they were published
