This poster presents the idea of developing web portal for

health disclosure in the future. Some preliminary data on

disclosure behaviors by patients give some promising hope

for the use of Information and Communication Technologies 

(ICT) specifically for health disclosure in the coming future. A concept of web portal is also introduced in this

One portion ofihequalitative interview asked about the use oftCt for pur_posed ofdisclosure.The data indicated that a large number of the respondentsused ICT to inform their relatives, to contact someone whohas similar medical history to start a friendship withanother patient, to get information on altemative treat_ments and to update their health status (see Table l). Thetelephone was the most common technology used whileelectronic mail and the Internet were used 5y th" .erpo.,_dents. However, there is no doubt that thi medium ofcommunication may change to other ICTs in the future.Recent market research reports have shown that the usageof Intemet, text messaging and instant messaging aieincreasing all over the world [2]One suggestion is to create a web-based portal for accessto health information. The purpose of a portal is to providea one-stop center for patients, where the medical team,with patient consent, can provide health information topatient's network . A portal may be useful when patientsare admitted to hospital and going through treafinents. Oneresearch idea would be to develop a porbal prototype andrecruit a patient sample to get feedbaik on ihe usifrrhessof a portal system. Specific aspect of disclosure like thecontent of information, depth of information, the timing ofinformation and the recipient of health information wili bea question when designing a portal for this purpose.
