Monografia realizada no âmbito da unidade de Estágio Curricular do Mestrado Integrado em Ciências Farmacêuticas, apresentada à Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade de CoimbraEmbora não seja muito conhecido na Comunidade Internacional, Protium heptaphyllum
faz parte da medicina tradicional dos índios Pataxó do Brasil há muito tempo. Visto que é
usado para tratamento de dentalgias, como analgésico ou até para o tratamento de úlceras,
esta planta apresenta uma variedade de possíveis aplicações futuras. A fim de realizar esta
monografia foram recolhidas informações de vários estudos relativos ao perfil antiinflamatório,
gastroprotetor, hepatoprotetor e ansiolítico e antidepressivo tanto da mistura
de α-/β-amirinas presente na resina como do perfil anti-inflamatório tópico dos óleos
essenciais de Protium heptaphyllum, tendo os resultados indicado que de fato esta planta
apresenta sucessos consideráveis em todos os parâmetros estudados.Although it isn’t a very well-known plant to the International Community, Protium
heptaphyllum has been used in traditional medicine by the tribe of the Pataxó natives in Brazil
for a long time. Seen that its use ranges from toothache and painkiller to ulcer treatment,
this plant’s popular use points towards a multitude of possible future applications. In order
to write this monograph information was retrieved considering several studies regarding
both the anti-inflammatory, gastroprotective, hepatoprotective, and anxiolytic and
antidepressant abilities of the α -/β-amyrin mixture from the resin, as well as the topical antiinflammatory
profile of the essential oils of Protium heptaphyllum, having the results indicated
that this plant shows considerable success in all the aforementioned parameters
