This paper describes the characteristics of Catalis software as a teaching tool. The analysis is based on the application of quality criteria of software development,
and describes its functionality from the adaptability to
basic requirements of the process of creating a bibliographic record. The analysis is done on the basis of the criteria applied in assessing of any software, and from the specific description of the bonding that has Catalis with bibliographic software standards.
It evaluates the user interface by applying the concepts defined in ISO 9126 that refer to the functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintenance and
portability that software must have and describes the compatibility of Catalis with cataloging rules and bibliographic format
