Analisis Kemampuan Representasi Matematis Dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Teorema Pythagoras Siswa Kelas VIII SMP AL ISLAM Kartasura Tahun Ajaran 2017/2018

Abstract

The ability of mathematical representation is an important skill for students to have. Students who have good mathematical representation skills will find it easier to solve a problem. This study aims to analyze and describe the ability of students' mathematical representation on the material of Pythagoras theorem in class VIII SMP Al-Islam Kartasura academic year 2017/2018. This type of research is based on the approach of qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 3 students of class VIII SMP Al-Islam Kartasura, consisting of 1 student with high score, 1 student with medium value, 1 student with low value. Data collection techniques used are documentation of daily repetition of Pythagoras theorem material and interviews. Data analysis techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Validity of data by using triangulation technique. The result of the research shows that the visual representation ability of students in SMP Al Islam Kartasura is good because it is able to draw the geometry to clarify the problem and solve the problem of Pythagorean theorem, the ability of representation of mathematical expression of junior high school student Al Islam Kartasura in solving the Pythagoras theorem problem: students with high value and is capable of making mathematical models and able to solve the problem of Pythagoras theorem while students with low grades have not been able to create mathematical models, the ability of word representation or written text of junior high school students Al Islam Kartasura low because students have not written Pythagoras theorem settlement steps.
