Coarse aggregates for pavement layer mixture usually use stone crusher aggregate . Problems occur when there are still many areas located far from the place who have stone crusher , so for the construction of the road used stone that crushed by hand produced by the surrounding population. The difference in the percentage amount of the natural part of the broken rock as a plywood mixture affects all Marshall parameters and workability. The purpose of this research is to find and compare Marshall characteristic value and workability between stone who crushed with hand and the stone who crushed with stone crusher in HRS-Base mix .
In this study, the HRS-Base mixture was tested using Marshall Phase I, Marshall Phase II, and Density Factor. Marshall Phase I Test was conducted to find the Optimum Asphalt Content (KAO) on each rock (stone who crushed with hand and the stone who crushed with stone crusher) with variation of asphalt content 5.5%; 6%; 6.5%; 7%; 7.5% to the total weight of the aggregate (1200 grams). The Marshall Phase II test was performed to find and compare the Marshall parameter values (stability, flow, VMA, VFWA, VIM and MQ) each rocks (stone who crushed with hand and the stone who crushed with stone crusher) using KAO. The density factor is a parameter to know the workability of a mixture. The sample measured its height at the collision to 5x and 2x75.
The result of Marshall parameter analysis is known that stone who crushed with stone crusher has better quality than using stone who crushed with hand for HRS-Base mixture, with stability value = 2568,34kg; flow = 5.10mm; VIM = 4.53%; VFWA = 77.08%; VMA = 18.06% and MQ = 525.33kg/mm on the use of stone who crushed with stone crusher and stability = 2293,22kg; flow = 4.77mm; VIM = 4.74%; VFWA = 75.90%; VMA = 18.14% and MQ = 484,37kg/mm on the use of stone who crushed with hand. In addition, the optimum asphalt content on the use of stone who crushed with stone crusher is less than in the use of stone who crushed with hand, ie 6.65% of the total aggregate for stone who crushed with stone crusher and 6.7% of the total aggregate for stone who crushed with hand. While for workability parameter based on density factor seen from the average result of all samples, the utilization of stone who crushed with hand is more workable compared to stone who crushed with stone crusher, with density factor value for stone who crushed with hand equal to 110,83% (volume based on area x height of sample ) and 100.61% (volume based on sample weight), while for stone who crushed with stone crusher was 109,38% (volume based on x height of sample) and 100,55% (volume based on sample weight)
