This paper describes about public opinion on The Vigilante deeds (eigenricting) at Jebres district, Solo city. The research use yuridical and empirical approach. The
juridical approach explain the regulation on the vigilante act (eigenrichting) in criminal law or Penal Code, while the approach of empirical describes about public opinion on the vigilante act (eigenrichting). The research result, that eigenrichting is the public response against crime occurred, however, the act is prohibited by Penal Code, such as Article 170, 304, 315, 333,352, and others. The essence of rules is that the act is punishable, and if the deeds result in mortality then the punishment is heavier. The Jebres community know that eigenrichting is forbidden, which is crime, however, they carry out it, because there is disturst to officers of law enforcement. Beside that the eigenrichting has become a habit. Furthermore, the community view that penalty is retaliation, so subject does not carry out again and get a deterrent feel
