Vulnerability of Croatian waterbirds

Abstract

Ptice pripadaju među najvažnije pokazatelje ukupnoga stanja prirode zbog svoje uske vezanosti uz staništa, složenosti životnog ciklusa i potreba za različitim staništima tijekom godine. Upravo su one najbrojnija skupina za zaštitu u projektu NATURA 2000 sa čak 121 vrstom. U ovom radu govori se o močvarnim područjima u Hrvatskoj na kojima obitavaju upravo vrste koje je potrebno zaštititi baš kao i njihova staništa te su navedene neke vrste ptica ovisno stupnju njihove ugroženosti. Osim toga, u radu su navedene i neke činjenice o projektu NATURA 2000 koji je od izuzetne važnosti za Hrvatsku kao buduću članicu Europske unije, a još veći utjecaj će imati na zaštitu vrsta i staništa koja je neophodno zaštititi kako bi vrste opstale.Birds are among the most important indicators of the overall state of nature because of their close attachment to the habitat, life cycle complexity and the need for a variety of habitats throughout the year. They are the largest group in need for protection in the project Natura 2000 with a 121variety of species. In this paper, we discuss the swamp areas in Croatia that are in need for protection as the habitats for previously mentioned species, therefore we listed some of the bird species according to their degree of vulnerability. In addition, the paper outlines some facts about the Natura 2000 project, which is of great importance for Croatia as a future member of the European Union, that will have even greater impact on the protection of species and habitats that are necessary to protect for the species to survive and prosper
