Objective.The text offered a historic approximation
to the formation process of information professionals
in Cuba, framed in the diversity of national and global
circumstances that legitimate them.Design/Methodology/Approach.The examination
performed was supported on the requirements of a
bibliographic research, which enabled to focus on epochal circumstances of the historical-formative process
of information professionals in Cuba.
Results/Discussion.The exploration developed was
centered on the training of information professionals
in Cuba. This process was based on an examination
over time and in certain spatial circumstances of the
historical conditions; which allowed to explain the
peculiarities of the Cuban formation of these professionals, visible in a timely manner, from and as a derivation of the revolutionary changes since 1959, in opposition to the weak development of the formation of
these professionals in the so-called Republican stage.
Conclusions.The formation of archivists, librarians
and information specialists in Cuba has a short history
that was not extraneous to another formative processes developed at global level, but the particularities of
the Cuban historic development confer certain specificity.
Originality/Value.This study is distinguished for the
insertion of professional formation within determined
global circumstances and premises, where it was possible to ratify the historicity of the studied topic
