Kroc Instiute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame, speaks Monday, February 10, at 7 p.m. at the University of San Diego. He examines the roots of religious violence and the potential of religious peacebuilding. Appleby speaks at USD's Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, dedicated in 2001, the second institute founded by philanthropist Joan Kroc to promote the study and practice of conflict resolution and peacemaking. The University of Notre Dame is home to the fust, founded in 1986. Both Institutes conduct research, education and outreach programs on causes of violence and conditions for peace. The event is part the speaker series at USD's Institute for Peace and Justice. A reception follows at 8:30 p .m. Both are free and open to the public. Reservations are requested. Call (619) 260-7873.
