Tingkat dan Faktor Kecemasan Matematika pada Siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explain the level and factor of mathematics anxiety of the VIIID students at SMP N 1 Sungai Raya in learning Pythagoras subject matter. Method used is descriptive form of ex post facto. The number of subject is 38 students. Based on the questionnaire of anxiety level, it was found there are two levels of anxiety experienced by the students, namely medium mathematics anxiety and heavy mathematics anxiety. Each level of anxiety is experienced by 19 students. The subjects of medium anxiety are suggested to have anxiety management because it might motivate them to learn. The factors that affect the level of mathematics level are the lack of scaffolding provided by the teacher, unsupportive learning environment, direct problem-solving activity in the classroom, unpleasant experience in the past, such as cruel mathematics teacher, and lack of motivation in learning mathematics. It can be concluded that most of students of VIIID at SMP N 1 Sungai Raya experience the medium to heavy anxiety level
