„Terra rossa” as the carrier of Acinetobacter junii

Abstract

Fosfat-akumulirajuće bakterije imaju primjenu u procesu poboljšanog biološkog uklanjanja fosfata (EBPR). Primjenom spomenutih bakterija imobilizacijom na odgovarajuće mineralne nosače postiže se veća koncentracija bakterija čime se neposredno postiže i uspješnije uklanjanje fosfata iz otpadnih voda. Svrha ovog istraživanja je utvrđivanje kapaciteta imobilizacije Acinetobacter junii kao fosfat-akumulirajuće bakterije na mineralni nosač, bakterijsku sposobnost uklanjanja fosfata te pogodnost mineralnog nosača na metabolizam iste bakterije. Korišteni mineralni nosač je terra rossa. Istraživanje je pokazalo da je terra rossa pogodan nosač fosfat-akumulirajuće bakterije Acinetobacter junii te da i sama ima sposobnost uklanjanja fosfata.Phosphate-accumulating bacteria have their use in the process of enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR). Using the mentioned bacteria, by immobilization on suitable mineral carriers, higher concentrations of bacteria are achieved which directly correlate to better phosphorus removal. In the research the capacity of immobilization of Acinetobacter junii as the phosphate-accumulating bacteria on the mineral carrier was being determined, as well as the bacterial capability to remove phosphate. Influence of the mineral carrier on the researched bacteria was being determined as well. Mineral carrier that was used was terra rossa. The research showed that terra rossa was a good carrier of the phosphate-accumulating bacteria Acinetobacter junii. Terra rossa used even alone had considerable phosphorus uptake
