Abstract

Primarna proizvodnja je proizvodnja organske tvari iz ugljikovog dioksida u atmosferi ili u vodi procesom fotosinteze i kemosinteze, u manjoj mjeri. Sva živa bića na Zemlji ovise o primarnoj proizvodnji. Organizmi koji obavljaju primarnu proizvodnju su primarni proizvođači ili autotofni organizmi i čine bazu hranidbenog lanca. U kopnenim ekosustavima to su većinom biljke dok su u morskim ekosustavima primarni proizvođači većinom alge.
