DEPOSISI LAPISAN TIPIS TITANIA DAN PEMBUATAN SISTEM PENGOLAH AIR LIMBAH ORGANIK MENGUNAKAN MATERIAL FOTOKATALIS TITANIA (TiO2)

Abstract

Titania (TiO2) is a n-type semiconductor with energy gap Eg ~3,2 eV. TiO2 material properties as oxidation catalyst that will transform harmful compounds in water and toxic waste into harmless compounds like carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). TiO2 thin films have been successfully deposited on a glass substrate by spray coating technique with a coating to four times as much. The produced TiO2 thin film was applied for photocatalyst oxidation within organic waste water treatment. TiO2 sol gel has been synthesized by dissolving Titanium Tetraisopropoxide 0,5 M into Diethylene Glycol, water (H2O) and TiO2. The TiO2 thin film deposited by spraying the sol gel TiO2 on the glass substrat prior heated at 60-70 oC. TiO2 thin film oven at a temperature of 200 oC for 30 minutes and sintering at a temperature of 450 oC for 2,5 hours. The result of measurement microstructure by XRD show that the more coating causing the crystal quality and crystallite size of the TiO2 thin film increased. EDS characterization showed that the thin layer of TiO2 consisting of 35,06 % titanium and 64,94 % oxygen. SEM images showed that the grain size of crystals increases with increasing number of coatings. The system of TiO2 photocatalyst based organic waste water treatment has been applied for organic waste water treatment. The reaction of TiO2 photocatalyst to clarity, eliminate odors, reduce the value of TDS 44,08%, BOD 73,44%, and COD 71,21% in organic waste water
