Effect of EGTA on growth inhibition induced by ibandronate in presence of high calcium concentration

Abstract

MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells were treated for 72 hours with 30 μmol/l ibandronate (Iban) alone or with 500 μmol/l ethylene glycol tetra-acetic acid (EGTA) in culture medium containing 1.6 mmol/l calcium. Cell culture densities were determined by crystal violet staining assay. Data are presented as percentages (mean ± standard deviation) of control values, which refer to culture with 1.6 mmol/l calcium and without drugs. Mean of results pooled from two experiments (= 12). *< 0.01 between indicated conditions, analysis of variance; < 0.01 versus control, analysis of variance; Tukey test.
Copyright information:

Taken from "Extracellular calcium increases bisphosphonate-induced growth inhibition of breast cancer cells"

http://breast-cancer-research.com/content/10/1/R4

Breast Cancer Research : BCR 2008;10(1):R4-R4.

Published online 11 Jan 2008

PMCID:PMC2374955.

</p
