Back ground & Aims: Perineal trauma is common outcome of vaginal birth, and can cause short- term and long term problems for new mothers. The aim of this study was determine the effectiveness of physical therapy techniques during child birth on frequency, degree and suture of perineal trauma in nulliparous women.
Materials & Method: This randomized clinical trial study (RCT) carried out on 120 nulliparous women that expecting normal birth of a singleton; they were randomly selected and divided in Physical therapy techniques (Warm compresses and Massage perineal) and control groups. Results: we did not any significant difference in the rates of intact perineum, first, second degree of tears (p= 0/513) and the rate of the lacerations in the anterior regions of the perineum (p=0/134) and frequency of suture (p=0/775) between groups.
Conclusion: The practice of the Physical therapy techniques in the second stage of labor probably does not to be increase of the likelihood of an intact perineum
