Calculation of Probability of Survival based on TRISS model in fatemi hospital Ardabil city 2010

Abstract

Introduction : Trauma is the most important cause of mortality and disability, in young people all over the world, and has the first burden of disease in Iran. Trauma is the fourth death factor in world, which associated to the imposition the economic-social costs on society. In 2000, trauma has caused death of over 6000000 persons in the world; therefore it has been always an economic-social and medical problem that not only caused mortality but also results to high costs because of long medical surveillance.Based on anticipate which were performed for 2020, trauma will be the most cause of losing the life only. Goal of this study is introducing the TRISS methods for the purpose of comparing the outcomes of trauma cases and compared with the results of MTOS study in US. Material and Method: Current study is a descriptive and analyzing study which carried out as perspective on 1000 traumal patients hospitalized in Fatemi hospital. In this study RTS, ISS and TIRSS ratio were calculated and patients' viability ratio were obtained too. Results :After evaluation 1000 patients age, was observed that the mean age of these patients is 35.68±20.62 years that 714 patients (71.4%) and 286 patients (28.6%) were male and female respectively. The youngest patient had 2 years old and the oldest was 82, moreover the majority of traumatic patients with 240 cases are in 13-22 age range and the lowest patients are in 53-62. In this study 45 patients (4.5%) and 955 patients (95.5%) had penetrating and blunt trauma respectively, as well as head and neck with 74% were the most prevalence of damaged place in trauma. The most prevalence of the trauma reason between these patients, with 670 cases (67%) was the accident with vehicles that resulted to the hospitalization. the lowest reason was also related to brawl with 30 cases (3%). 97 cases (9.7%) of them died in hospital that the most mortality percent is in 73-82 age group. After calculation ISS and RTS, was observed that the average of this varieties are15.50±11.31 and 7.49±0.79 among these patients respectively. Probable viability was also calculated followed by TRISS in this study. Based on this evaluation in injured persons group with trauma, it should be alive in 91.5% of injured persons but 90.3% will alive practically. Conclusion: We can conclude that presented surveillance to our injured group had some defects probably, so must be proceed to remove these deficiencies
