Die Arbeit besteht aus drei Teilen:
Teil A („Theoretische Grundlagen“), Teil B („Beispiele“) und Teil C („Anhang“).
Teil A: Nach einer kurzen Einleitung, welche die Ortung der Forschungslücke und die Bestimmung des Verhältnisses der Teile beinhaltet, wird der Begriff „Bilderbuch“ (wie als seine Voraussetzung auch die Begriffe „Bild“, „Zeichnung“, „Gemälde“ und „Collage“) genauer definiert, welches aus Bildern oder auch aus Bildern und Text bestehen kann, wobei Bild und Text eine unauflösbare funktionale Einheit bilden. Dem folgt eine kurze vom 15. Jahrhundert bis heute reichende Geschichte des (deutschen) Bilderbuches. Die Beantwortung der Frage nach der Motivation der Lektüre eines Bilderbuches und genauer eines Bilderbuches, in dem Menschen mit Behinderung dargestellt werden, leitet über zur näheren Bestimmung des „Behinderungs“-Begriffes durch Vorstellung und Gegenüberstellung verschiedener heterogener Definitionen. Im Kapitel „Behindert sein oder behindert werden?“ stehen die Relativität von Normal und Anormal wie das Normalisierungsprinzip im Mittelpunkt. Als nächstes wird in einem kurzen Exkurs das in den Beispielen öfters vorkommende wie erklärungsbedürftige Down-Syndrom vorgestellt. Der letzte Abschnitt der theoretischen Grundlagen beinhaltet eine genauere Darlegung der pädagogisch-hermeneutischen Inhaltsanalyse, welche den methodischen Rahmen zur folgenden Untersuchung der Beispiele abgibt.
Teil B (Hauptteil): Der Schwerpunkt der Arbeit liegt hier im praktischen Teil, in dem jeweils (mindestens) 3 sorgfältig ausgewählte repräsentative Bilder samt den dazugehörigen Textstellen aus insgesamt 9 Bilderbüchern (in denen Menschen mit Behinderung [zu gleichen Teilen] aus den Bereichen Körper, Sinne und Geist dargestellt sind) einer präzisen wie kritischen pädagogisch-hermeneutischen Inhaltsanalyse unterzogen werden.
Teil C: Im Anhang findet sich ein am 28. Mai 2006 geführtes inhaltsreiches Interview mit Dr. Franz-Joseph Huainigg, dem Autor von zwei hier näher untersuchten Bilderbüchern. Den Abschluss bilden das Quellenverzeichnis, der Lebenslauf der Autorin, die Eigenständigkeitserklärung wie zuletzt die vorliegende inhaltliche Zusammenfassung.This thesis consists of three parts:
Part A (“Theoretical Foundations”), Part B (“Examples“) and Part C (“Annex“).
Part A: After a short introduction marking the gaps of knowledge in this field of research and explaining the ratio between the parts of this thesis, a precise definition of the term “picture-book” is provided (along with “picture, “drawing”, “painting” as indispensable terms in this context). A picture-book may consist of pictures only or of both pictures and text which then form a rigid functional unity. After these definitions there is a brief outline of the history of the (German) picture-book reaching from the 15th century till today. The answer to the question about one’s motivation to read a picture-book, in particular a picture-book displaying people with special needs, is provided by a comprehensive definition of what “special needs” exactly are using and comparing different heterogeneous definitions. The chapter “Being disabled vs. being made disabled?” puts forward the relativity of “normal” vs. “abnormal” as well as the normalisation principle. It is followed by a digression on the Down-Syndrome, a term which is frequent in the examples of this thesis and therefore in the need of a precise explanation. The last clause of the part on the Theoretical Foundations explains the pedagogical hermeneutic content analysis which constitutes the methodical frame for the analysis of the examples.
Part B (main part): This part is the focus of this thesis. It thoroughly depicts (a minimum of) 3 representative pictures together with the text respectively from 9 picture books (which contain people with special needs [in equal parts] physically, sensuously and mentally), to carry out a precise pedagogical hermeneutic analysis.
Part C: At the beginning of this part there is a comprehensive interview with Dr. Franz-Joseph Huainigg, author of two books analysed in this thesis, held on May 28th 2006. The part is concluded by the bibliography, the curriculum vitae of the author, the honesty declaration and finally this abstract
