Heterogeneous Catalyzed Ozonation using Cu-Ni-Co Oxides for Degradation of Dichlorophenol

Abstract

<p>The ozone initiated oxidation of dichlorophenol (DCP) in aqueous medium, catalyzed by various loadings of Cu, Ni and Co oxides supported on γ-Al2O3 was studied, as function of ozonation time and pH. Ternary catalyst materials synthesized by a wet-impregnation were fully characterized. The XRD results showed metal oxides were well incorporated within the alumina phase. Microscope images illustrated that metal oxide particles are dispersed on the surface of the support. Dihydroxyfumaric acid and oxalic acid were, respectively, found to be major and minor oxidation products. The oxidation products were characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, and mass spectral data.</p
