Coexistence of viruses and man – HHV1 and confirming migration paths of modern humans

Abstract

U ovom radu nalazi se pregled problematike datiranja ljudskih migracija praćen kratkim uvod u strukturu HHV-1 i njegovu upotrebu u praćenju davnih ljudskih migracija. The origin of modern humans has been an object of human curiosity for centuries. Until recently radiographic and stratigraphic methods have been the only way of answering questions about the pathways and timelines of early human migrations. Development of genetics and new techniques such as molecular clocks have enabled a new outlook upon the early history of Homo sapiens. Problems encountered while using parts of the human genome is such research drove scientists to consider viruses as a tool for elucidation of human history. This paper contains an overview of issues pertaining to dating of human migrations followed by a short introduction to the structure of human herpes virus 1 and its usage in tracking ancient human migrations
