Therefore numerical models are de-veloped which account for the piezoelectric coupling.MethodsMaterials showing piezoelectric behaviour producean electrical charge when subjected to a mechanicalstress. Furthermore the opposite effect also occurs.Figure 2 : FE model of a beam with piezoelectric sensorand actuatorThe piezoelectric coupling between the structure andsensors and actuators is accounted for in the equa-tions of motion.
