Patients were interviewed and had their electronic
medical records examined at the time of consultation. It was determined whether the patient held a valid driving license, the patient had unilateral or bilateral visual field loss, driving status had been documented at any previous clinical visits, eligible patients (currently holding a valid driving licence and with the presence of bilateral visual field defects) reported that they had been advised by the department to inform the DVLA, for eligible patients, whether there was documentation that advice regarding the DVLA had been provided in paper or electronic patient records
