"Usage Effectiveness Study Method Motivation Problem
Solving Students in Learning Mathematics".
This research is motivated by the low motivation of students to learn mathematics assume
that mathematics is difficult, monotonous, and students are less active in participating in math
and the perception of students that mathematics is only limited mathematical general nature and
have nothing to do in our daily lives. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the
student's motivation to learn math treated form of learning methods of problem solving in the
experimental class better than students who treated form of inquiry learning methods in the
control class class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Klangenan. Methods used in this research is the method of
quantitative analysis technique comparative test two averages. The method of experimental
research is defined as research methods used to find a specific treatment effect against the other
under controlled conditions. This type of study design is quasi-experimental (quasi-experimental
designs) are the type of experiment that considered both the pre-experimental, for committing a
way to compare the groups. Researchers used the class VIII E as an experimental class
consisting of 34 students and class VIII G as the control class consisting of 35 students. Date
collection techniques showed that learning mathematical problem solving teaching methods give
better effect in terms of motivation and the use of the method applied learning than learning math
teachers using inquiry learning methods. This is shown by the calculation of a hypothesis that
gives a significance value of 0.000 is smaller than a predetermined significance level is 0.05. It
also shows that the hypothesis is accepted that the researchers propose using math learning
problem solving learning method gives a better effect than the inquiry method of learning in
terms of student motivation in learning mathematics and the use of learning methods applied
teacher, in addition to the average value average student motivation in learning mathematics
experimental class of 110.1765 and the average student's motivation to learn math control class
is 93.0571
