According to our experiences the diseases, heaving nutritional or environmental origin are the most common, and they are mainly fatal. We would like to focus on the most common problem, the calcium and vitamin D deficiency. The subjects of the study are the bearded dragons (Pogona vitticeps) and Hermann's tortoise (Testudo hermanni) because they are very popular among the pet owners. In our investigations we would like to know how the optimal nutrition influences the speed of growth, their health status and the blood values. We analyze which of the different kind of calcium and vitamin D resources are more efficient and whether the impact of usage UV light is positive. In the experiments with agamas, 36 animals were divided in 3 groups, 12 animals each. We investigate the health status and growth of animals, in addition from 18 lizards blood samples will be taken 5 times. In groups 1 and 2 commercial vitamin- and mineral supplements are being used with or without UV-source (6-6 animals). In the 3. group we apply calcium-carbonate or calcium-gluconate (6-6 animals) with UV-lamp. Due to the fact that these animals are omnivores, we increase the proportion of feeds of animal origin according to age. Physical and X-ray examinations will be also carried out. The tortoises are divided into two groups, 6 each. They are being fed with two different kinds of vitamin- and mineral supplementations, combined with UV-)amp. Tapasztalataink alapján egyértelműen látható, hogy takarmányozási és tartási hibákra visszavezethető megbetegedések a leggyakoribbak, és ezek többnyire elhulláshoz vezetnek. Ezek közül a legnagyobb problémát jelentő, kalcium- és D-vitamin-hiánnyal kapcsolatban kialakuló megbetegedésekre kívánunk összpontosítani. A kísérletek alanyának a szakállas agámákat (Pogona vitticeps Ahl) és a görög teknőst (Testudo hermanni Gmelin) választottuk, mivel a leggyakoribb kedvtelésből tartott hüllők közé tartoznak. Vizsgálataink során arra keressük a választ, hogy az állatok igényeinek megfelelő takarmányozás esetén milyen lesz a növekedési ütem, hogyan alakul az egészségi állapotuk, valamint a diagnosztikában fontos vérparaméterek standard értékei. Megvizsgáljuk, hogy a különböző típusú kalcium- és D-vitamin-források közül melyek hasznosulnak a legjobban és mennyire hatékony az UV-fényforrás alkalmazása. Összesen 36 agámát osztottunk 3, egyenként 12 egyedből álló csoportra. Az 1. és 2. csoportnál kereskedelmi forgalomban kapható vitamin-és ásványianyag-kiegészítőt etetünk UV-fényforrást alkalmazásával vagy nélküle (6-6 állat). A 3. csoportnál pedig kalcium-karbonátot vagy kalcium-glükonátot (6-6 állat) alkalmazunk UV kiegészítéssel. A fizikai vizsgálat mellett, röntgenvizsgálatokat is végzünk, 18 állatból pedig 5 alkalommal vért veszünk. A szárazföldi teknősök két, egyenként 6 egyedből álló csoportjának két különböző takarmánykiegésztőt adagolunk UV fényforrás alkalmazásával. Kulcsszavak: teknős, agáma, takarmányozás, UV, vitaminok
