Implementing citizenship education in Natural and social sciences instruction

Abstract

Škola i obrazovanje predstavljaju jedan od najosjetljivijih i najvažnijih čimbenika u prenošenju znanja i razvoju stavova prema drugome i drugima te prema civilnome društvu, ljudskim pravima i životu uopće. Građanski odgoj i obrazovanje trebao bi biti sastavnim dijelom školskoga okruženja, a ne samo nastavnih programa.U uvodnom dijelu rada daje se pregled razvoja građanskog odgoja i obrazovanja i njegovo uvođenje u škole, sastavnice kurikuluma GOO-a, njegovo provođenje u nastavi Prirode i društva te empirijski dio rada kojemu je cilj bio ispitati samoprocjenu učitelja razredne nastave o kompetencijama i motivaciji provođenja građanskog odgoja i obrazovanja u nastavi Prirode i društva. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo ukupno 45 učitelja i učiteljica. Pretpostavili smo da su učitelji kompetentni za provođenje građanskog odgoja i obrazovanja i da poznaju njegove osnovne pojmove, što se istraživanjem pokazalo istinitim.School and education are one of the most sensitive and the most important factors in the transmission of knowledge and the development of attitudes toward each other and others, and to civil society, human rights and life in general. Civic education should be an integral part of the school environment, not just teaching the program.In introductory part of the paper provides an overview of the development of civic education and its introduction in schools, the curriculum components of goo, its implementation in teaching Nature and Society and empirical part of the work which aims to test the self-assessment of class teachers about the competence and motivation of conducting civic education in teaching Nature and Society. The study included a total of 45 teachers and teacher. We assumed that teachers are competent to carry out civic education and to know its basic terms, what the study proved to be true
