Langbeinfliegen-Funde abseits der Hauptsaison (Diptera, Dolichopodidae)

Abstract

Records of long legged flies outside the main season (Diptera, Dolichopodidae). – In a summarizing contribution, data from late and/or early active long legged flies occurring in Switzerland from October to April are given. These phenological data are based on available literature (22 species) and are completed with collection data from Switzerland (9 species). For 4 species such data are provided for the first time. Altogether, records for 26 species of 7 subfamilies were found. Only 4 species ﴾Achalcus cinereus (Haliday, 1851), Campsicnemus curvipes (Fallén, 1823), Hydrophorus nebulosus Fallén, 1823 and Syntormon denticulatum (Zetterstedt, 1843)) can, in addition to their summer activity, also be termed as winter-active. For two further species (Hercostomus rusticus Meigen, 1824 and Liancalus virens (Scopoli, 1763)﴿ phenological data are as yet insufficient. The results indicate the remarkable seasonal dependence of the activity of Dolichopodidae along our temperate zone. This facilitates a complete sampling in a specific biotope of these flies, known as very suitable bio-indicators
