Perubahan Bunyi Dalam Soneta Shakespeare Ke Bahasa Inggris Modern

Abstract

The title of this study is “Perubahan Bunyi Dalam Soneta Shakespeare ke Bahasa Inggris Modern”. The purpose is intended to give explanation about the sound changing from Early Modern English (in this case, Shakespeare\u27s sonnet) to Modern English. The objectives of this research are to identify, analyze, and explain the sound changing from Shakespeare\u27s sonnets to Modern English. The research uses a descriptive method. There are three steps to finish this research: Preparation, Data Collection, and Data Analysis. The data were taken through the sonnets of William Shakespeare. Ten sonnets had been selected to be identified. Theory of Campbell (1999: 31-42) is used to analyze the data. The result of this research shows that there are six kinds of sound changes. Those are palatalisation, non palatalisation, strenghtening, weakening, centering vowel, and apocope
