The Syncretism Form of Aluk Todolo Religion with Christianity

Abstract

Torajan architecture is a reflection of Torajan culture in general, as an expression of the native beliefs known as Aluk Todolo, local religion and way of life for Torajan community. Aluk Todolo, henceforth, expressed in several aspects of architecture, e. g. ordering, orientation, ornaments, and other details. Syncretism’s reaction towards pluralism and religion is an amazing phenomenon to be observed, for syncretism struggles to tolerate and reconciliate different aspects of religion and culture at the same time, including those which, at times, seemed to be in a state of contradiction. &nbsp
