Legal assistance is an effort to guarantee legal protection provided by the government to the poor people/groups of the poor according to Law Number 16 of 2011 on Legal Aid. This paper aims to determine the implementation of legal aid provision in West Kalimantan and the efforts that need to be made to improve the effectiveness of Legal Aid Organizations in order to provide legal assistance to the poor people/groups of the poor. This legal research is a normative and empirical legal research with a descriptive approach. The result of this research is needed some efforts in order to increase the effectiveness such as through the improvement of the quality of human resources advocate, signing of commitment/mutual agreement between law enforcement officers about the implementation of legal aid, giving reward and punishment firmly to Legal Aid Organization
