The study aims to analyze the function of imitation, suggestion, and sympathy in increasing student's motivation in learning at XI IPS SMA Islam BAWARI Pontianak. The form of this research is descriptive qualitative. The results of data analysis showed that student's motivation in learning has increased due to sociology teacher were done well in every aspect of imitation, suggestion, and sympathy. It could be seen in imitation aspect that is how to talk, dress, and teach. In suggestion aspect is giving advice that told students to study hard, provide information about students achievement, and shows the spirit while teach. Whereas in sympathy aspect, teacher listens to the student's problem, establish good communication, showing friendliness, and being polite to the students. All the things that have been done in this aspect of imitation, suggestion, and sympathy by sociology teacher make student's being active and enthusiastic in learning
