Tesis (Fonoaudiología)El trastorno del procesamiento auditivo central (TPAC) es resultado de una disfunción en el procesamiento de la información auditiva pudiendo o no coexistir con una disfunción global que afecte el desempeño a través de otras modalidades (déficit de atención, déficit en la representación del lenguaje). (Chermak, Hall y Musiek, 1999). Este diagnóstico puede hacerse desde los 7 años debido a que a esta edad es donde se cree que las estructuras neuroanatómicas alcanzan su punto máximo de maduración, por lo tanto, es desde esta edad donde se realizan las intervenciones, en caso de presentar esta alteración. Existen variados trabajos publicados para intervenir el TPAC en personas mayores a 7 años. Sin embargo, a pesar de que en nuestro país las tasas de niños que presentan trastornos del lenguaje y trastornos del aprendizaje son altas, no existen materiales de estimulación del PAC como método de prevención para evitar mayores alteraciones en niños menores a 7 años.
Es por esto que el objetivo del presente trabajo es el de “Crear un material interactivo para estimular las habilidades del PAC en niños de 3 a 6 años, 11 meses”.
Para cumplir este objetivo se creó un material audiovisual de estimulación del PAC con actividades auditivas, el cual consta de 10 ítems, conformados por los siguientes temas: duración, intensidad, frecuencia, habilidad figura fondo, secuencia auditiva, cierre auditivo, atención auditiva identificación de sonidos verbales y no verbales, ritmo y dicóticos. Para verificar si los estímulos auditivos y visuales del material eran comprendidos y adecuados para los niños en cuanto a su rango etario, se realizó un pilotaje en dos jardines infantiles de la región metropolitana (RM), en una muestra total de 24 niños, en donde se comprobó que estos comprendieron casi la totalidad de los estímulos y sus instrucciones. Además de esto, se realizó una escala de evaluación para que un total de 3 fonoaudiólogos con magíster en audiología, pudieran puntuar el material, según si este era adecuado o no para la edad de la población en estudio.
Los resultados concluidos por los expertos indican que es necesario crear un material de este tipo debido a que existe muy poco en Chile. A pesar de presentar detalles técnicos en la grabación de los estímulos, estos son adecuados al rango etario que se seleccionó. Aunque quedan cosas pendientes por corregir, el material es de gran utilidad para la estimulación y prevención de alteraciones de las habilidades relacionadas al PAC.Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) is the result of a dysfunction in the processing of auditory information that may or may not coexist with a global dysfunction that affects performance through other modalities (attention deficit, deficit in the representation of language). However, despite the fact that in our country the rates of children with language disorders and learning disorders are high, there are no materials to stimulate the CAP as a preventive method to avoid further alterations in children under 7 years old.
That is why the objective of this paper is to "Create an interactive material to stimulate the CAP skills in children from 3 to 6 years, 11 months."
To achieve this goal, a CAP stimulation booklet with auditory activities was created, which consists of 10 items, containing the following topics: duration, intensity, frequency, background figure ability, auditory sequence, auditory closure, auditory attention, identification of sounds verbal and non-verbal, rhythmic and dichotic. In order to verify if the auditory and visual stimuli of the booklet were understood and suitable for the children as regards their age range, a piloting was carried out in two kindergartens located in Region Metropolitana, Chile, in a total sample of 24 children, where it was proved that they comprehended almost all of the stimuli and their instructions. In addition, an evaluation scale was carried out, so a total of 3 speech-language pathologists with a master's degree in audiology could score the material, according to whether it was adequate or not for the age of the study population.
The results concluded by the experts indicate that it is necessary to create a material like this one because there is very little in Chile. Despite presenting technical details in the recording of the stimuli, these are appropriate to the age range selected. Although there are pending things to be corrected, the material is very useful for the stimulation and prevention of alterations of the skills related to the CAP
