Indexación: Revista UNABEl artículo aborda el tema del orden social y de la imagen de la ciudad en el Chile de tiempos
coloniales, centrado en lo sucedido durante las celebraciones públicas de carácter político,
particularmente en el contexto de fi nes del siglo XVIII. Se distingue en él una primera parte, destinada a dar
el contexto normativo y general de estas ceremonias. La segunda aborda el tema introducido
desde la óptica de un hombre, testigo de la proclamación
de Carlos IV en 1789.
Abstract:
The article deals with the subject of social order and the image of the city in colonial Chile,
focusing on what happened during political public celebrations, particularly towards the end of the
18th century. The fi rst part of the article aims to give the general and regulatory context of these
ceremonies. The second part deals with the subject from the point of view of a man who witnessess the
proclamation of Charles IV in 1789
