Guía ilustrada básica para la identificación de los invertebrados marinos de Isla Fuerte, Bolívar

Abstract

Las áreas marinas y costeras contienen unos de los sistemas naturales más productivos del planeta, debido a la gran biodiversidad que albergan. Para los seres humanos, es ésta biodiversidad la que representa y es responsable de los bienes y servicios que el océano ofrece y sin los cuales no es posible el modo de vida que llevamos actualmente. Por lo anterior, se debe asegurar la protección, conservación y monitoreo de áreas marinas y costeras, ya que al hacerlo garantizamos también nuestro bienestar. Para hacer esto posible, es prioritario conocer la estructura que se sustenta en la biodiversidad que allí se aloja. Los planes institucionales y gubernamentales para la protección de las zonas marinas y costeras del país buscan aumentar el conocimiento sobre la diversidad biológica asociada a los ecosistemas estratégicos, marinos y costeros, particularmente los de las Áreas Marinas Protegidas (AMPs). Desafortunadamente la biodiversidad marina, en especial en materia de invertebrados, es desconocida a nivel mundial y en el caso de Colombia los inventarios biológicos de este grupo son precarios e incompletos. Es por lo anterior que, a modo de inventario biológico, se realizó una guía ilustrada para la identificación de los invertebrados marinos de Isla Fuerte, dirigida a todo público con la intención de aportar al estado del conocimiento de la diversidad de una de las ecorregiones del Caribe colombiano. La guía contiene 136 registros distribuidos en 6 filums y organizados en fichas técnicas para cada organismo con: fotografía(s) del organismo, nombre común, información taxonómica, estado de conservación, inclusión en el CITES, ecosistema en el que se encuentra, descripción morfológica, distribución global, hábitat y rango batimétrico.Marine and coastal areas contain some of the most productive natural systems of the planet, due to the great biodiversity that harbor. For human beings is this biodiversity which represent and is responsible of goods and services that the ocean offers and without which is impossible the way we live. Itþs because of it, that protection, conservation, and monitoring must be guaranteed for those marine and coastal areas, since it ensures our wellness. To make this possible, is priority first know the structure, that is sustained on the biodiversity that is housed there. The institutional and governmental plans for the protection of the Colombian Caribbean are looking for arise the knowledge about the biological diversity associated to the strategic marine and coastal ecosystems, more specifically those within the Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). Unfortunately, the biodiversity in matter of invertebrates is very unknown worldwide and in the case of Colombia the biologic inventories of this groups are precarious and incomplete. As an biological inventory, an illustrated guide for the identification of the marine invertebrates of Isla Fuerte was made, with the intention of contribute in the knowledge of the biodiversity in one of the ecoregions of the Colombian Caribbean. The guide include 136 records distributed in 6 phylum and organized in technical sheets by each organism with: Photography(s) of the organism, common name, taxonomic information, conservation status, participation in CITES, associated ecosystems(s), morphologic description, global distribution, habitat and bathymetric range.Biólogo (a)Pregrad
