??????????????????????????????????Training for elementary school and junior high school physical-education teachers based on specialneeds education from university teachers’ point of view? ? ? ??? ? ? ???AbstractThis study was carried out with the aim of acquiring basic materials for training physical-education teachers who could provide special needs education. We conducted a survey of full-timeteachers in charge of adapted sports or other similar classes in universities having training courses ofelementary school teachers and junior high school health and physical-education teachers. Thethemes were “students’ opportunities for learning adapted sports” and “skills needed for being aphysical-education teacher capable of handling children with special needs in elementary and juniorhigh schools”. Through a paper-based questionnaire by mail, responses were obtained from ??universities with junior high school health and physical-education teacher training courses?collectionrate:?????, and from?? universities with elementary school teacher training courses?collectionrate:?????. The results obtained suggests the following.??Regarding the current state of “students’ opportunities for learning adapted sports” from universityteachers’ point of viewFrom university teachers’ point of view, junior high school health and physical-education teachertraining courses offer more lessons on skills and practices which may be applied to adapted sportsthan elementary school teacher training courses. On the other hand, in elementary school teachertraining courses, many students take lessons on special education such as the education for childrenwith special needs. In general education courses, there are few classes of adapted sports education.Therefore, many university teachers feel the necessity of opening the classes of adapted sportseducation in specialized courses, but at the same time, they feel also the difficulty thereof.??Regarding “skills needed for being a physical-education teacher capable of handling children withspecial needs in elementary and junior high schools” from university teachers’ point of viewUniversity teachers tend to consider that elementary school teachers better understand the“disabilities” of children with special needs, while junior high school health and physical-educationteachers better understand specialized content in physical education and sports. This suggests that wehave to consider how the opportunity for learning adapted sports should be surely provided and whatcontents should be offered in the field of education and during the teacher training course.???????????? ???? ???? ??????????? ????????
