It is a text−picture book, the product of ErskineCaldwell and Margaret Bourke−White, an active young photographer.Caldwell refers to the making of the work in his autobiography, Call ItExperience??it was my intention to show that the fiction I was writingwas authentically based on contemporary life in the South.
