Operations: Bio logis t -d ivers  conducted random a r c  t ype  surveys  a t  
\Jest  Cove, Eel  Po in t  and on t h e  e a s t  s i d e  of t h e  
i s l a n d ,  sou th  of Wilson Cove. Night d i v e s  were made 
a t  Northwest Cove and lJ i lson Cove i n  an a t tempt  t o  ob- 
t a i n  in format ion  on t h e  s t a t u s  of t h e  l o b s t e r  popu la t i on .  
Resul t s :  A t o t a l  of t e n  s t a t i o n s  were 0ccupie.d by b i o l o g i s t -  
d i v e r s .  A new underwater  s u c t i o n  l i f t  w a s  t e s t e d .  Tlie 
u n i t  performed q u i t e  e f f e c t i v e l y  and al lowed a  more corn-- 
p l e t e  co l - lec t ion  of m a t e r i a l  from a  b e n t h i c  s c r ap ing .  
Few l e g a l  l o b s t e r s  were observed, a l though t h e  commer- 
c i a l  e f f o r t  remains q u i t e  i n t e n s e .
