Abstract
Describes the project on extracting the basic drum patterns from a large set of MIDI pop music renditions, and trying to describe them with a reduced-dimensional set of basis patterns. Includes some examples of basis functions derived from Independent Component Analysis, Linear Discriminant Analysis, and Nonnegative Matrix Factorization
