Assessing the Factors That Influence Morbidity and Mortality From Stress-Related Mental Disorders, Such as Anxiety and Depression, Among Undocumented Mexican Immigrant Male Adults in New York City

Abstract

Using a holistic social ecological perspective, this needs assessment proposal investigates the individual and environmental risk factors associated with increased morbidity and mortality from stress-related mental disorders, such as depression and anxiety, among undocumented Mexican immigrants male adults in NYC along with the personal determinants that influence those behavioral risk factors. Moreover, the proposal also puts forward a plan for obtaining additional primary data that would provide further insight into what is occurring at each of the five levels of the Social Ecological Model (i.e. individual, interpersonal, organizational, community, and policy/societal levels) as it relates to the health problem
