It is supposed that organic farming reduces soil water erosion due to a long soil
coverage and soil aggregation by roots and organic manure. In a long term field trial\ud
which is focused on the effect of legume management in different crop rotations soil
aggregation in the top layer of 0-5 cm was tested and correlated with some other soil
properties and indicators of carbon balances. There are differences in aggregate
stability between the crop rotations. The incorporated plant material (roots, stubble
residues, green manure) has the best effect on the stability of soil aggregates
