Schizophrenia and comorbid cannabis use disorders. Brain structure, function and the effect of antipsychotic medications

Abstract

The overall aim of the studies described in this thesis was to increase our understanding of schizophrenia, co-morbid cannabis use disorders and the effects of different antipsychotic medications in patients with schizophrenia and a comorbid cannabis use disorder. Therefore we studied the clinical characteristics, different aspects of brain structure and function and reviewed the literature. Although the studies described in this thesis have increased our insight, also questions are raised which should be answered in future studies
