The major fruit and vegetable crops for
Texas are listed alphabetically with the
approximate volume for the 1970-71 season.
The volume is indicated in various dimensions
such as boxes, or mi Ilion pounds and can be
easily ascertained by the asterisk at the
bottom of the chart.
The key located at the top of the page
indicates the various stages of shipping or
marketing season for the particular Texas
commodity. For example, the new crop for
onions begins about March 1 and the most
active shipping period is March 15 through
August. Then the shipping season decreases,
beginning September 1, and ends about the
end of September.
This Texas produce availability chart
should be useful to producers, brokers,
shippers and retail chain buyers in determin-
ing when Texas commodities are available.
