The Zschortau Plan. International Sustainable Land Management Facility: An Integrated Programme for Soil, Water and Nutrient Management

Abstract

Plan of action developed at a workshop on environmental and productivity dimensions of soil, water and nutrient management sponsored by the German Foundation for International Development (DSE) and the International Board for Soil Research and Management (IBSRAM) and held in Zschortau, Germany in September 1994. The action plan was a follow up to IBSRAM's position paper 'Soil, Water, and Nutrient Management Research: A New Agenda,' which was discussed at the CGIAR meeting in May 1994. The Zschortau plan proposed a coordinated international program on sustainable land use and land management. A list of projects and a paper by Eric Craswell of ACIAR on strengthening research consortia in soil, water and nutrient management are attached. The document was presented for consideration at TAC 65 and at CGIAR International Centers Week, October 1994
