The foundation and endowment of the chapel of St. Peter in the Cathedral of Toledo

Abstract

In 1415 Don Sancho de Rojas was appointed archbishop of Toledo by Pope Benedict XIII. In spite of his scant presence in the Primatial See, Don Sancho concerned himself with the continuity of the works which were in progress at the cathedral and, especially, with the endowment and foundation of a chapel which would be his burial place. The archbishop died in 1422 but did no see his work finished. It was the executors of his will who took over carrying it out and establishing its constitution. In the present article we study that process, specifying some not well known facts, and state the liturgical accessories with which the prelate endowed his chapel.Junta Castilla y León LEO92A11-
