Abstract
El presente artículo tiene por objeto realizar una primera aproximación a la historia de la investigación sobre la fiesta de las Fallas de Valencia. Con el fin de trazar las principales etapas de dicha historia, situamos los “estudios falleros” en el contexto histórico del debate sobre la identidad valenciana, luego nos adentramos en los trabajos precursores sobre las Fallas y se evalúa el definitivo impacto que tuvo la obra del ensayista Joan Fuster, luego se analizan los inicios del estudio contemporáneo de la fiesta, y posteriormente se aborda la etapa del lento pero progresivo reconocimiento académico e institucional de los “estudios falleros”, Por último se valora la actualidad de los estudios sobre las Fallas, ya configurados como subcampo científico limitado pero en franca expansión dentro de la investigación social sobre la fiesta.The present article aims at a first approximation to the research-history of the Fallas in Valencia. In order to show the most important historical period of this feast, we will connect the research-work done on this subject with the debate on Valencian identity. Followed by a critical view on the first studies of the Fallas, an evaluation of the impact on the essayist Joan Fuster's work will be made. The contemporary studies of the Fallas will also be analysed, especially those related with its slow but increasing academic and institutional recognition. We conclude with a brief view on the state of affairs of the study of the Fallas, considering them as a restricted scientific subdiscipline, although with an expansive and notorious impact in the social research of the feast
