Urgensi Regulasi Zakat dalam Pertumbuhan Ekonomi di Indonesia

Abstract

Studies show that zakat plays an important role in economy in Indonesia. Research by Baznas and FEM IPBM in 2011 revealed that household zakat payment potentially reached 82,7 trillion, industry 114,89 trillion, state's companies 2,4 trillion and bank savings 17 trillion per year. So the total amount of zakat payment should have been 217 trillion per year. However, the total amount in 2011 was only about 1,7 trillion. This minimum payment was caused by many factors, ranging from social, cultural, economical to legal aspecth. This article examines legal aspect of zakat payment. It shows that the state has contributed greatly in providing legal reform as the ground of zakat payment. The enactment of Compilation of Shari'a Economy Law (KHES) and statutes as well as regulations of zakat, the establishment of certified zakat management institutions up to the idea of combining zakat and tax are clear examples of the state's contribution to zakat management in Indonesia
