Education is a very important thing in the development of a country. Therefore, the quality of education in Indonesia should be improved. One way is by applying Quality Management System (QMS) based on ISO 9001: 2008. A method of this research using descriptive qualitative approach and the location of research is in SMAN 5 Malang. SMAN 5 Malang has implemented QMS ISO 9001: 2008 especially clause 5 which is the responsibility of the management of the commitment of management, customer focus, quality policy, management planning, responsibility, authority and communication as well as the views of management as well. However, its implementation has not been up to as well as not referring to IWA-2 as a reference for the application of QMS ISO 9001: 2008 in educational institutions so that their implementation more effective and can meet the needs and expectations of students as consumers
