L'article ressegueix l'evolució del discurs crític i la pràctica traductològica en relació amb la narrativa anglosaxona en el si del sistema literari català dels anys vint i fins a l'esclat de la Guerra Civil espanyola. A partir d'un corpus mínimament significatiu d'aportacions crítiques i de traduccions, es posarà de manifest que la general ponderació de la novel·la en els anys vint evoluciona devers la promoció del conte en el marc de la Segona República. L'objectiu de l'article és identificar les raons d'aquest canvi, que són principalment d'ordre moral.The article traces the evolution of the critical discourse and the practice on translation in relation to the British narrative within the Catalan literary system of the twenties and until the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. From a minimally significant corpus of translations andcritiques, the article shows that the overall praise of the novel in the twenties evolves toward the promotion of the short story in the context of the Second Republic.
