The parasite:erlains in the form of tissue cysts in host tissues. However, in cancer patients, especially in"i hom have taken immunosuppressive drugs, an acute toxoplasmosis can be a serious threatror these patients' The prevalence of Toxopla,sma gondii is different in populations and in:itterent parls of the world. The aim of the project was to determine of the prevalence of- 'ttctplasma in patients with cancer and non-cancer patients in Kerman province.\Iaterial and methods:In this study, 181 blood samples from cancer patients and lTghealthycontrols were examined' ELISA was used for identifying anti-Toxoplasma gonclii antibodiesin host sera. Also, for detection of DNA of the parasite, specific primers of 81 gene and\ested PCR were used.Results:The prevalence of IgG antibodies anti-Toxoplasma gonclii in patients with cancer in114/181(63%) patients was significantly higher than healthy subjects 69117g(3s5%).In thecancer group, the prevalence of the antibodies based on cancer type determined that there was: significant difference between IgG antibody in lung cancer, brain tumor, genital carcinomaand other cancers. Due to the low frequency of IgM in the two groups, the result was'nterpretable' In both groups! animals(cats) contact, consuming uncooked vegetables orcooked meat were significantly associated with toxoplasmosis .The results of the pCR using81 locus were shown thatl out of 360 (1 .94%) cases had Toxoplasma gondiiDNA in theirn1ood.Conclusion: Considering the high prevalence of toxoplasmosis in people with cancer in the:rovince and also in view of the importance of the disease in patients who are consumers of-:llmtlnosuppressive drugs including those with cancer, screening of toxoplasmosis is very'::lpofiant.
