Introducing of this novel drug delivery systemscause to increase the local penetration, absorbtion of drug and also decrease in sideeffect" Dithranol belongs to the keratolytic category, which is widely used drug in thytreatment of psoriasis" This drug is practically in soluble in water.Many conventional dosages, forms for psoriasis treatment have been formulated earlier,but they did not show good results. Therefor the purpose of this study, it was attemptedto formulate Dithranol in the form of niosomes and evaluate the physico chemicalproperties, till in the latter steps more evaluate in the clinical treatment.Methods: In this study niosomes of Dithranol were obtained by film hydrationmethod" Different kinds of sorbitanesters (Span 20,40, 60 and 80), polysorbates(Tween20,40, 60 and 80) in the presence of cholesterol were used in vesicularformulations. [n vitro characterization of niosomes including microscopic observation,release of Dithranol of niosomes, size analysis, physical stability during 6 monthesperiod, the presence of cristal or surfactant drop and encapsulation efficiencycalculation were studied. Dithranol concentration was measured by second derivativeUV spectroscopy at 360 nm.Results: Among the all niosomes formulation of Dithranol only span/tween 40 (50:50)0.25% selected as preferable niosomal formulation because no oxidation andsedimentation were detected. Vesicles were spherical multi - lamellar. The obtainedAverage particle size was 6.183 pm. Vesicles were stable with minimum size changeduring 6 monthes storage at refrigerator temperature. The maximum encapsulationefficiency percent of Dithranol was 94.66%. 19.82% of dithranol was released fromniosomes over a period of 300 minutes.Discussion and conclusion: High confined percent of the composition, relativelygood stability of noisome during storage at refrigerator temperature, the appropriateparticle size distribution and extended release of the confined Dithranol and using theprepared noisome propose the likelihood of drug topical application improvementsuccess.Keywords I Psoriasis, Dithranol, Dithranol noisome, Alopecia areata.ilt
